Pineapple Growing
Question: Hi, I need an original recipe created by me and I am thinking about using a sauce with red wine and pineapple on meat. But I am not sure, can I use pineapple in a French recipe?
Answer: Pineapple is certainly used in French cooking. In fact, it is one of the fruits you can almost always find in a fair sized French grocery store. The pineapples in France might come from Africa or from the Caribbean.
You will find them used many times in desserts, but also combined with other things in savory dishes. I have indeed seen pineapple combined with red wine and then served with meat, in particular duck, so you are probably onto a good thing.
Best of luck with your recipe!
